Janine Wasson, Day 7

Saturday 4/27/24

2 Corinthians 7:1 Since we have these promises, beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from every defilement of body and spirit, bringing holiness to completion in the fear of God.

A cooler morning and actually a cooler day as well. Our morning started off like many others with quiet time and coffee. Ed made us a breakfast of eggs and toast before devotions.

We headed out for three Bible clubs in different villages. Gabby, Allie, Karey and myself traded off as we went through the villages teaching. As we were driving towards the villages, we would see children, laughing, calling out to us, jumping up and down and even yelling “Azungu” which means white person.

We sang songs, shared bible stories and at the end, each one got a “sweet” (lollipop). One little one that sat next to me would look up and I would rub her hair. She then started leaning in to me for more…..I hope she feels love at home. One little peanut sat in my lap as I rubbed her back and feet. Such little little toes. I pray she knows Jesus someday and He is her Savior.

Afterwards we went for lunch and then a trip into an indoor produce and meat market. Such interesting fruits, herbs and smoked fish. Hibiscus petals that were dried smelled amazing.

Back at the mission house we were visited by Maxwell Anderson, a major in the police department here. Such a sweet man! He also made sure I knew he had been praying for me last year when I had malaria. Very kind!

We played a game with the girls and Lita out in the court yard before dinner of “would you rather”. One of the questions was simple…..would you rather take a bath in ice water or jello. The Cornea kiddos all said jello!!! They love jello!

A delicious dinner created by Lita. Her sourdough bread is the best I have ever had!

It amazes me at times here, all the good, the fellowship and the simple life filled with funny stories, laughter and sharing. It is needed! It is joy filled because of our Father, but it is also hard here for the Corneas. They would never say it, they do it all for the Lord. The battles, the challenges, the highs and the lows…….they remain a wonderful example for me!
