Day 10 Off to a Safari

Wow, what an adverture. The day did not start so well for our enthusiastic teammate Janine, she was sick through the night and was taken to the doctor in the early afternoon and was diagnosted with Malaria #1. So she got a few meds and will probably be steeping for 2 days.

So Janine and Pastor Ed, were not able to go with us to the Safari. It took us about 2 1/2 hours to get there with the sometimes very rough road conditions. Once we arrived we had a boat ride to across the river to a nice lodge. We were giving some local tea to drink and then we got on a Range Rover and started are adventure. We first say a few Impalas, monkeys, baboons, and wort hogs. The best was the Elephants, we were able to stop for quite a while and watch them eat and move around. It was quite the experience.

We had lunch at the lodge and then had a river boat ride and right away across the river we spotted a small group of Elephants eating out of the river. The were grabbing grass from under the water and sometimes swishing it in the water to possibly getting off some of the mud. While watching these Elephants, I looked behind me and could see in the distance a small crocodile sunning himself on a rock, unfortunately too far for a good picture. As we traveled down the river there were many hippos in the water staying cool from the warm sun. It was a really good day.
