Gabby Colson, Day 2

We spent the day in Kachere where Hope for the future primary school is. We were able to gather all the students (I think it was close to 800!) to take a big group photo. While the kids were having their big group photo, we were able to help the women prepare a meal for the 100ish orphans that they feed twice a day six days a week. These orphans have either lost both of their parents or their parents are mentally ill and unable to take care of them. We met so many sweet faces that have a desire to be loved and cared for. I am so thankful Hope for the future has come along side of them to care for them and show them the love of Jesus.

These women who prepare the meal each day amaze me every time. Each meal typically consists of Nsima (finely ground corn to look like flour and then boiled in water), cabbage and a type of meat (usually beef). They finely hand cut the cabbage and tomatoes each day. Allie and I tried to help with that, but let’s just say lunch was 30 minutes and it may or may not have been our fault lol. These women are the hardest workers I’ve ever seen! They do everything with joy, no complaining. Their hearts are so tender and so patient.

I am excited to see how the Lord will continue to use our team in the coming days.
